If you hold the shutter for a second or two before the actual hit, you'll get more shots and be able to choose the best shot where the bat is in closer contact to the ball. Good if you want to take a shot of someone playing baseball swinging at a base ball. It also lets you shoot more shots in a row before you fill the buffer. Few cameras can do this and most of them cost a lot more.
